Public Engagement Events and Activities

On Tuesday 15 August, CVS co-organised public engagement activities for all ages for The Human Body experience created by collaborating CMVM Centres and Institutes for BBC Terrific Scientific at the BBC venue at the Edinburgh Festivals.

The Centre for Cardiovascular ScienceAnatomy@Edinburgh, Edinburgh Neuroscience, the Roslin Institute, Usher Institute and the Institute for Genetics and Molecular Medicine all joined in to develop thematic drop-in activities in the Pagoda tent. Over 1500 people attended the event in sunny weather at the peak of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2017.

The new public engagement activities presented integrated the Human Body with a 'medical progress through science' through the ages theme. CVS naturally was at the heart of the event to explain all the cardiovascular topics using an anatomy model straight from Scottish history.   Demonstrators from CVS were Bonnie Nicholson, Tijana Mitic and Sari Pennings.
