Edinburgh University Cardiovascular Research Centre BHF Fundraising Group

Heart disease is Scotland’s single biggest killer but it doesn’t have to be! We are a group of masters and PhD students with many of us on BHF funded studentships. Therefore we understand the need to raise money to help fund the research happening here in our Centre for Cardiovascular Science. We do this by holding fundraising events, sponsorships and donations as well as getting involved in public outreach to talk to people about our science. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you are interested or want to know more about our group.

First year round up

We had an amazingly successful first year as a fundraising group managing to raise £3869.92 as well as receiving the BHF Scotland ‘New Fundraising Group of the Year’ award! We held multiple bake sales within the QMRI, organised a pub quiz and ended the year with a bang at our fundraising Ceilidh. Some of our members tortured themselves by getting involved in the Dechox challenge and we taught over 50 students and staff at Little France CPR. We also got involved with larger BHF events including the Science and Cinema night, the Meadows Festival and the Science Festival to get the word out about the research here in Edinburgh. Hopefully we can keep up this fantastic work next year!

Upcoming Events

Three members of our team are taking part in this year’s Edinburgh Kiltwalk! This 26 mile trek takes place on the 17th of September and we would love to raise as much money as possible for the BHF. I wish I could say our training is well underway but that would be a lie! If you would like to join us in our (potentially mad) challenge of walking a marathon around Edinburgh then please do get in touch with us. If you would simply like to support us we would be very grateful. The link to our Everydayhero page is here - https://edinburghkiltwalk2017.everydayhero.com/uk/edinburgh-cvs-bhf-fund...
